Alcoholics Anonymous and treatment based on its illogical dogma have been successful only in creating a worldwide cult based on fear. Not only does AA not help tens of millions who are sent there, admitting it has at best just a 5% success rate, research shows it dramatically increases rates of dangerous binge drinking and drug use. People then become stuck in a self-destructive cycle of heavy use, shame and guilt, forced abstinence, depression, then back to heavy use further reinforcing feelings of self-loathing, powerlessness and deep depression.
